He’s got a million dollar smile and a voice smooth as butter, and now he has his very own video blog! Motown The Musical breakout star Charl Brown will take audiences behind the scenes at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre every week with his new Broadway.com video series Miracle Man. Get ready, ‘cause here comes Smokey—armed with a video camera!
Tony nominee Brown plays music legend Smokey Robinson in the box office-busting Motown The Musical, which tells the story of the rise of Motown founder Berry Gordy. As Gordy reaches the top of the charts with his red-hot record label, he discovers a slew of legendary musical talent, including Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and the incomparable Diana Ross.
Brown earned his first Tony nomination for originating the role of Smokey Robinson in Motown. Before joining the golden oldies tuner, the actor appeared in the original Broadway cast of Sister Act, as well as the long-running crowdpleaser Jersey Boys.
Miracle Man: Backstage at Motown with Charl Brown will premiere on Broadway.com on August 29, with new episodes every Thursday.
In addition to Brown, Motown The Musical currently stars Brandon Victor Dixon, Felicia Boswell (stepping in for Valisia LeKae through September 23), Bryan Terrell Clark, Raymond Luke Jr., Darius Kaleb and Ryan Shaw.
